Relationship Between Food Habits And Good Health

Food is the most important necessity for human being to survive. When you consider the three very basic yet vital requirements for human survival i.e. Food, shelter and clothing, food attains the top position. We must eat for our survival. The food you eat helps you in maintaining a good health; it provides energy, which is required to perform your day-to-day activities. 

You consume food in many forms like solid, semi solid, powder and liquid. Whatever may be the form you should follow some rules for eating to keep you healthy. You live in a world where 24 hours of a day are not sufficient to complete your duties, and then you will start compromising with the food habits. You must pay attention to your diet and practice it as your regular duty.

To lead a happy life it becomes immensely important as to how you eat rather than what you eat. Below given are the tips for the food habits that you need to follow to achieve a good health:

• Do not eat in haste. You must eat very slowly, cut your full meal into smaller mini meals. You need to chew well the food you eat. 

• Eat plenty of nutritious food. Starving will not help you in keeping your good health. Your body needs all types of vitamins and minerals to keep its metabolism in good working condition. 

• Try to avoid eating the deep fried food items. You can reduce the consumption of red meat to help your body to maintain the correct cholesterol level. 

• One of the most important food habits that you can cultivate is eating lots of fresh vegetables and fruits. 

Generally the food habits among the people differ from place to place. You may be familiar with the food habits that are being followed in your locality; you must also know the lifestyles of people living in a different region. 

Start consuming the food items that are rich with the nutrients, minerals and vitamins. Prepare a diet chart and stick to that schedule. Eat the food items that are rich in iron e.g. fruits – watermelon and pomegranate, vegetables – beans, spinach, broccoli, whole grains and dried fruits. When you start eating the low cholesterol and low fat food, you are almost avoiding the chances of cardiac related problems. 

Initially it may take some to stick to different schedule than that of your regular one. After some time you will love to follow the new habits. Your good health is purely dependent on your food habits. Use some of the basic tips while preparing food for yourself and your family members i.e. usage of less oil, usage less salt etc. 

The most important among the good food habits are, do not skip your breakfast. Avoid soft drinks; start using the low fat milk and its products. Reduce the consumption of alcohol and quit smoking. Consumption of alcohol before meals is very dangerous; it not only fills your stomach with the gas, also prevents you from eating. The result of this is acidity and over weight.
